Think, thought, thunk.

Mon Mar 2, 2009, 9:11 PM
The days keep disappearing and soon it shall be Spring Break. It would be great if I could follow up that statement with set plans I have to leave Chicago and explore some other unknown surroundings but alas, I shall be staying in my current location. A friend of mine who currently resides in Wisconsin intends on going to a concert in the Illinois area. Her friend shall be driving down here and from when I last chatted to her she said the driver had no problem driving me back with them. I just have not heard from her about it recently, but I will talk to her soon about them. It would be great to check out another state in the Midwest. I really have not been out of the East Coast until I came to school. I am actually a bit excited that I am in this location because there is a descendant of Hermes named Mega Bus who travels around these areas. Mega Bus agrees to take me on adventures to decently distant lands for a very small fee. (They typically range from $2.00 USD to $35.00. The earlier you summon Mega the lower the fare! -Seems fair and reasonable to me.) I intend on taking up his offer one of these dull weekends.

On a non-travel related note. I have finished reading the Great Gatsby (weeks ago) and I was not pleased. I found myself sitting on the 12th floor of what grew to be an unknown place through all of my confusion. I wondered “What was the point of this?”, “Why (didIwasteallmytimeonthis)? Just… why?” Luckily, the answer came to me and had the sound been waves they would have been much like those off the coast of Seaside at approximately 5PM when the tide is typically at its peak. The sound waves shook me, and they said “ P oe, do you really want to know the point of this book? Okay. Well, you see, Mr. Fitzgerald Gerald was dead-set on marrying this woman. He proposed before he went to war and she refused unless he somehow became an aristocrat. Mr. Gerald was not sure how to do this quickly so he wrote a couple of books and they brought him success. His love realized she had obviously made a mistake and he married his princess. They lived happily ever after.”

I had hoped I heard incorrectly and rather head the story go a little like this: His lover broke off their engagement due to the unbearable financial circumstances they both faced. The engagement was broken off and through his misery new-found inspiration flourished and spread. Mr. Gerald released a few works of his. He grew to become a “successful” writer. Then he married a princess. They lived happily ever after.”

Now, don’t get me wrong, I am glad that Aphrodite graced Mr. Gerald and (what would be now the,) Miss. Gerald with her presence. But… never mind. That’s all I have to say.

I also finished The Republic by Plato. Finish as in ‘I am finished’ and by that I mean ‘I am not going to go back and read the chapters that I may or may not have read.’ I was angered and frustrated while reading that work of art, but that is a rant for another journal entrée on another day. Till then, do tell me how you are all doing, any adventures you have/are going to take or anything at all that you care to share.

The Adicts, Iron Maiden, Thelonious Monk?

I don't think many people your age have ever heard of Thelonious Monk!

"Are we lost, Daddy?" I asked tenderly.
"Shut up," he explained.

It is a shame if they have not!
They have no idea what they are missing.
